Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run Collision

A driver struck and a killed a pedestrian on Saturday afternoon in Van Nuys, then fled the scene of the accident.

The crash happened about 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of Victory Blvd. and Kester Ave. A male pedestrian, between 50 and 60 years old, was crossing Victory. The driver of a black sedan who was eastbound on Victory struck the pedestrian, then fled the scene.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Police are searching for the driver of the hit-and-run car. His car is missing a left-side mirror. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident.
