Pedestrian Hit by Car near Cal State Long Beach Suffers Critical Injuries

|

An accident today near Cal State Long Beach left a female pedestrian with critical injuries.

The accident happened at about 2 p.m. at the corner of Beach Dr. and Bellflower Blvd. The pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, was crossing towards the Cal State Long Beach campus when she was hit by a Honda sedan.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released by the Long Beach Police Department, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Honda's driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. It is unknown if any charges will be filed against the driver.

If you or someone you care about has been injured in a pedestrian accident or car accident, you should speak with a personal injury attorney about your right to compensation. In an accident like this one, where the injuries were serious, it would not be surprising if the driver's policy limit is insufficient to cover the value of the pedestrian's injury claim. If that is the case, then the pedestrian would be able to make an underinsured motorist claim under her own auto insurance policy if she has the coverage and her underinsured motorist policy limit exceeds the at-fault driver's liability policy limit.
