Belmont Shore Motorcycle Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured

|

A crash on Second St. in Belmont Shore Friday night left one motorcyclist dead and one injured.

The Long Beach collision happened about 8:40 p.m. near Glendora Ave. Long Beach businessman Nicholas Limer, 68-years-old, was driving a 2005 Toyota Sequoia westbound on Second St. Two motorcyclists, 35-year-old Taryn Hawk, and 30-year-old Joseph Daroza, both of Huntington Beach, were riding Harley Davidsons eastbound on Second St. Limer turned left directly in front of the approaching motorcyclists, resulting in the collision.

Hawk, who suffered major head trauma, was pronounced dead at the scene. Daroza was transported to a local hospital.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, Limer may face criminal charges in connection with the accident. The Police Department has not disclosed whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Limer, a Long Beach resident, is the owner of a Long Beach restaurant, McKenna's on the Bay.

If Limer was driving under the influence of alcohol, his victims not only have a right to seek compensation for medical bills, lost earnings, property damage, and pain and suffering, but also punitive damages. Punitive damages are meant to punish the negligent driver and deter future bad behavior.
