Hit-and-run truck driver kills woman in Huntington Beach

A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Huntington Beach on Tuesday.

The accident, which involved a tractor-trailer, happened at 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of Warner Ave. and Springdale St. The intersection is controlled by a traffic signal.

According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the driver of the tractor-trailer left the scene of the accident, but was located a short distance away.

The female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The decedent's name has not been released by police, pending notification of her relatives. The truck driver's name has also not been released.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
