Elderly Female Pedestrian Killed by Car in Fountain Valley

An elderly female was struck and killed by a car in Fountain Valley on Monday.

The accident happened at about 6:38 p.m. at the intersection of Warner Ave. and Mt. Hope St. 80-year-old Bich Van Phan, a Fountain Valley resident, was in a marked crosswalk, crossing Warner Ave. from the northwest corner to the southwest corner. The driver of a Mitsubishi sedan which was eastbound on Warner Ave. struck Phan.

Phan was treated by paramedics and transported to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car remained at the scene. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the accident, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department.
