Driver of Swerving Big Rig Killed in 710 Long Beach Freeway Accident

A swerving big rig driver was killed after hitting a pickup truck on the Long Beach 710 Freeway on Monday.

The accident happened at about 9 a.m. on the northbound 710 Freeway near the connector road to the northbound 405 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the big rig driver swerved to avoid a slower moving Ford F-550 truck. As the driver of the tractor-trailer was overtaking the F-550, the tractor-trailer struck the F-550. The big-rig overturned, and the big-rig’s driver was killed.

The name of the big-rig driver, a 50-year-old Cudahy resident, has not been released. It is unknown if the driver of the Ford F-550, a 34-year-old Santa Ana resident, was injured in the accident.
