An accident that occurred just before 10 p.m. Friday night in Mid City left an elderly man dead.
The accident happened on West Blvd., in the 2100 block. An elderly man was northbound on West Blvd., headed home from work in his pickup truck, when his truck was struck head-on by a speeding blue Mercedes Benz which was southbound on West.
The crash caused the pickup truck driver, whose identity has not been released by police, to be ejected from his vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The decedent has only been identified as a 72-year-old local business owner.
Two of the Mercedes' three occupants ran away from the scene and have not yet been apprehended. The third occupant, a passenger, was transported to a local hospital.
