Woman Killed in Left-Turn Collision in Camarillo

|

A woman died in a left-turn collision in Camarillo Monday evening.

The accident happened at 6:36 p.m. at the intersection of Las Posas Rd. and Carmen Dr. According to deputies of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, the driver of a Honda traveling westbound on Las Posas Rd. turned left onto southbound Carmen Dr. The Honda slammed into a pickup truck which was traveling eastbound on Las Posas.

The pickup truck overturned and landed on the sidewalk on the southeast corner of the intersection.

A female passenger in the Honda was killed when the pickup collided with the passenger side of the car.

The drivers of both vehicles were injured and transported to a local hospital.

Left-turn collisions are one of the most common types of car accidents. The presumption is that the left-turning driver is at fault. The presumption can be rebutted if there are credible witnesses who can testify that the driver who was going straight ran a red light. Even if the driver who was going straight through the intersection did not run a red light, there may be some liability on that driver if there is evidence that that driver was speeding.

If you have been injured in a left-turn car accident, speak with a personal injury attorney before you speak to the other driver's insurance company. The insurance adjuster will try to get to you before you hire an attorney, and will try to obtain your recorded statement. Do not talk to the other driver's insurance adjuster. The adjuster's goal is to obtain information from you that can be used against you in order to reduce the amount of money that the insurance company must pay you.

An attorney at the personal injury law firm of McGee, Lerer and Associates is available 24/7 for a free consultation. We have offices in Long Beach, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and Pasadena.
