5-Car Collision in Long Beach Injures 8

Eight people were injured in a five-car collision near the Long Beach-Signal Hill border Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened on Spring St., just west of Cherry Ave., at about noon. A woman driving eastbound on Spring St. struck three vehicles which were traveling westbound on Spring. Fire departments and police departments from both Long Beach and Signal Hill responded to the scene of the accident.

Eight people suffered injuries. The woman who caused the collision suffered critical injuries; she had to be extricated by the fire department with the jaws of life. Seven other people were injured in the multi-vehicle accident, five of whom had to be transported to a local hospital.
